Action plan

2010-2011
Action Plan

The 2010-2011 action plan of COMPERES/COMPETES and TREM (La Table régionale de l’éducation de la Mauricie) were presented.

A regional mobilization meeting held on November 11, 2009 saw the launch of a new identity, a website and an annual regional awareness campaign. COMPERES/COMPETES proceeded to develop its 2010-2011 action plan.

The meeting brought together some 250 people from the Mauricie, including players in the school system, teachers, university researchers, youth interventionists, police officers, politicians, and representatives of ministries and community organizations. They met at the Alphonse-Desjardins Sports Centre in Trois-Rivières to exchange ideas and reflect on the issues affecting the educational success of young people in the Mauricie.

Gathered around 32 tables, the attendees participated in 90-minute workshops organized in 4 stages. In the first stage, they exchanged knowledge on their work and daily realities in dealing with educational persistence and academic achievement. Second, they brainstormed with the aim of classifying, in the third stage, the proposals that emerged and ways of executing them. Finally, they were called upon to choose and then expand on an idea, approach or promising project, using a card provided.

Data from these workshops, based on notes from 32 workbooks, were transcribed verbatim and organized according to the 4 stages. All the comments and statements were then grouped under 12 themes and represented proportionally in the form of graphs. The 28 cards, detailing ideas, methods or projects explored in the 32 workbooks of the 4th stage of the workshops were grouped under 4 axes of intervention with varying priorities: young people, parents, awareness and prevention.

A synthesis of these workshops presentation will be available soon on this site.

COMPERES/COMPETES took into consideration a number of themes emerging from these workshops in formulating its 2010-2011 action plan.

The mission of COMPETES/COMPERES is to mobilize and involve all regional players in addressing the issue of school drop-out. Its actions are aimed at gaining the cooperation and commitment of families, school, community and businesses in the Mauricie to increase the number of young people obtaining a first diploma or other qualification.

COMPETES/COMPERES is working to mobilize an entire region and foster its economic development and growth by leveraging the full potential and success of its young people. This action plan aims to:

  • support educational achievement by promoting academic persistence and success among Mauricie youth;
  • encourage and valorize among all stakeholders in the community the achievement of a first diploma, in order to contribute to the social and economic development of the Mauricie and ensure a skilled workforce for the future;
  • propose actions related to educational success that fall under three axes of intervention and have three objectives:

Axes:

  • Prevention and intervention
  • Information and dissemination
  • Development and innovation

Objectives:

  • Partnership and consulting
  • Communication
  • Research

At the conclusion of the first partnership agreement, TREM signed a second agreement specifically for 2008-2011 of which Orientation #1 is to to promote educational persistence and school reintegration in the Mauricie.
